ADOPTION
The legal process that establishes a parent/child relationship between two people who are not otherwise related biologically is called Adoption.
PETITION FOR ADOPTION
To establish this relationship the Petitioner, or person wanting to adopt, files a Petition of Adoption in the Juvenile Court of the County where the child resides. The Respondent named in the petition is the biological parent whose parental rights are being terminated in the process.
